What an eggciting afternoon we had today with the St Andrews Egg Drop Challenge. There were some truly eggstrordinairy contraptions designed by our students to prevent the demise of their raw egg as they were dropped about 10 metres from the second floor of the CORE building.
There were an impressive range of ideas and materials used to invent and create these contraptions, with some being far more successful than others.
The Maths department also took on the challenge but didn’t read the criteria carefully enough and were disqualified by Mrs Randall for using both a cage and a parachute!
Congratulations to Poppy in Year 4 for the slowest egg descent and to Foie in year 10 – his egg made the fastest descent in 1.16 seconds! It was great to see such a fantastic turn out and well done to all the budding engineers who took part.
