Congratulations to our hardworking International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) students and staff who are celebrating outstanding results. Students at Regents International School Pattaya have achieved way above the world average with 86% receiving A*-C grades and 42% achieving the highest A*-A grades.
All of our students, staff and parents are to be congratulated for these outstanding results. However, we also have some very impressive individual performances. Jung Yi Cho (Julie) is a Korean student who has been studying at Regents International School Pattaya for the past 10 years. She achieved an astonishing 8 A* and 1 A grade. Julie is now starting the prestigious International Baccalaurette Diploma Programme at the school.
Julie told us, “During the 2 years of preparation for IGCSE, I faced challenging and difficult moments but with my friends and support of my teachers I was able to enjoy Year 10 and 11. Throughout Year 10 and 11, all teachers supported us both academically and emotionally till the end. At the time of our final IGCSE exams, they encouraged us until the very last minute and, even today, nervously waited with us for the results. From IGCSE, I have found an interest in science and aim to study medical science at university. I hope through IGCSE, all students can discover their dreams and I look forward to the new experiences I will be gaining at IB!”
Another top performance was achieved by Surotama Banerjee (Suri) who achieved an amazing 91% in her IGCSE Economics exam. Suri also completed a course at the prestigious Brown University in the United States this summer.
Our Head of Secondary, Amos Turner-Wardell, was obviously delighted. “It was a great day to see so many of our new Year 12 students opening their IGCSE results with anxiety which then quickly turned to joy. A really impressive set of results this year with 86% of the students gaining the critical A*- C in so many subject areas. Additionally, we have some excellent success stories of non-English speakers gaining the highest mark of an A* in English Language IGCSE. This was the case for so many students as 42% of the grades were A*-A which sets them on the right path for the world class IB Diploma Programme. I would like to congratulate all of the students and teachers, but also the teachers who supported them on their journey and will continue to do so on their diploma course.”
All this follows on from our excellent IB results, announced a few weeks ago where, again, our students achieved an outstanding performance with a 97% pass rate and an average score of 33 points, significantly above the world average. The IB Diploma Programme is the world’s leading pre-university qualification, offering senior students a gateway to universities across the UK and mainland Europe, USA and Canada, Australia and Asia, including Thai universities.
Principal Sarah Osborne-James said, “These results reflect our dynamic learning environment in which our teachers work in partnership with our students. We encourage all of our students to be ambitious and their success is a reflection of this spirit to succeed.”
