Regents International School Pattaya Year 8 student Bryce Li joins a select group of young engineers, many at colleges and universities, who can use the letters CSWA to show that they conform to an international standard in mechanical design run by Solidworks Association.

Bryce heard this week that he passed the Mechanical Design exam for which he has been studying since September 2016 and, according to Regents Head of Design & Technology, Mr Steven Daly, he is probably the third youngest person in the world to achieve this. The programme is normally run by colleges and universities which further illustrates the impressive nature of the achievement.

This achievement within the Regents Design & Technology Department follows their success in last year’s IGCSE exam results which saw then Y11 student Luke Daly achieve the highest score in the world for DT.

As a sign of its commitment to further inspire the students to acquire the skills needed for the 21st century, Regents is looking forward to beginning a collaboration in 2019 with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) which will see students and staff immerse themselves in a culture of hands-on problem-solving.
