The YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center awarded 608,700 baht in scholarships as part of its Warm Family program.
Deputy Mayor Poramet Ngampichet emceed the Dec. 14 ceremony at the Diana Garden Resort with YWCA Chairwoman Praichit Jetapai and Diana Group Managing Director Sopin Thappajug.
Praichit noted that the Warm Family program is now in its 29th year and annually provides scholarships to hundreds of poor Chonburi students with strong academic records.
This year 295 scholarships averaging 2,000 baht each were awarded to students in 48 schools and three institutes of higher education. Included in those were Pattaya’s 11 public schools and 33 schools from the Chonburi Primary Education Services Area Office.
Among older students, eight were from Thai-Austria Technical College, Kasetsart University, Panyapiwat Institute of Management, and Burapa University.
Donors to the program included the Pattaya Sports Club giving 100,000 baht, the Human Help Network Thailand donating 30,000 baht and the P&G Thailand Foundation giving 400,000 baht.
