The final Friday of May saw yet another ‘Wine Experience’ held in the gardens of the Amari Pattaya.
For many this provides a perfect antidote after a stressful week at work, where they can enjoy being out of an air-con environment and enjoy the setting in the gardens with the trees wrapped in glittering lights, a gentle breeze and the jazz duo adding another layer of ambiance.
The wines for this event were from VS Classic Wines based in Rayong and the focus was on Chile some 17,700 km away – well, with a short stop off in Italy first as guests were served ice cold Zardetto Cuvee Brut, shimmering with bright citrus, lime and white flowers.
A glass or two of Chilean Red before dessert.
The reds and whites were from the Viña Echeverria winery, a family run enterprise located on the outskirts of the town of Molina, Curicó Valley, the wine heartland of Chile.
The Echeverria Chardonnay was bright yellow in colour, fresh with aromas of pineapple, melon, and peach, whilst the Sauvignon Blanc was lighter in colour with hints of fresh herbs, green pepper, tomato leaves, with mild citric notes.
As ever, the executive chef at the Amari, Maurizio, laid on some tasty treats, such as spicy salsa, sandwiches, various canapés, and snow fish wrapped in puff pastry.
Dieter Precourt politely instructs a member of staff where he likes his wine.
The red wines from Echeverria comprised of their 2012 Carmanere and 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon, the latter being purple in colour bursting with plum and strawberry flavours with hints of red pepper & spices.
The Carmanere was complex on the nose, with intense aromas of raspberries and cherry, with a splash of black pepper.
If that wasn’t enough, the guests were able to finish off their evening with a huge choice of desserts.
At only 950 baht per person the evening offers great value with good quality wines and a splendid social setting.
The next Wine Experience at the Amari will be held on Friday the 26th of June. Booking is not essential but those who want to can contact 038418418 or email: [email protected]
