Over 60 guests attended the March Wine Experience at the Amari Pattaya on Friday the 25th of March.

Every month different wines are featured and this month it was wines from California supplied by Siam Winery with the addition of a sparking Lions Cape Chenin Blanc from South Africa.

The two white wines were the Gallo Family Vineyards N.V. Chardonnay with an unexpected flavour of citrus notes, hints of vanilla and a dash of oak and the Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio Apothic which was a new label to many yet was very palatable with vibrant flavours of peach and apricot.

Socialite Rodney Charman with Koonlapatporn Intarasing, Key Account Specialist at Siam Winery.

The reds were equally interesting with a 2013 Apothic Red made from Zinfandel, Syrah, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes giving a full bodied wine, spicy, with hints of black cherry, vanilla, mocha and oak. And a 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon from Louis M. Martini Sonoma County bursting with flavours of blackcurrant and jammy black plum accented by notes of caramelized oak.

Rob Rijnders, GM of the Amari Pattaya with Executive Chef Shaun Venter seem pleased with the turnout.

The executive chef at the Amari Shaun Venter was on hand to ensure the guests also had plenty to eat and this month’s highlights were the Caesar salad, roasted duck on waffle with maple-honey & melon salsa, prawn dumplings, California rolls, pulled pork burger with Asian slaw

farmer style sausage & roast potato hot pot with Herbs and the fabulous Cajun spiced Louisiana mini steak with cheesy mash & gravy.

Rounded off with a selection of desserts such as mini pumpkin pie, chocolate brownies and New York cheesecake.

The next Wine Experience will be on Friday the 29th and details will be published in future editions of the Pattaya Mail.
