The speaker at the October 7, 2018 meeting of the Pattaya City Expats Club was Spencer Sharpe on the topic of “How I am changing the internet (and bringing international TV to Expats around the world)”.

Spencer is a 57-year-old Englishman who has lived in Thailand for seven years. He has been in business and entrepreneurship since his early 20’s, starting in the fashion industry. He diversified, launching branded products in the toiletries sector. He saw a market twenty years ago for exporting used mobile phones into South Africa and eventually became a major international trader and distributor of mobiles and associated hardware. Spencer followed by developing and launching his own successful satnav and security products for the private and governmental sectors.

He mentioned that though he came to Pattaya to retire, his creative desires resurfaced a few years ago when he conceived setting up an online marketing website, which he named iTS COOLER. He began his presentation by linking his computer screen to the meeting room video screens and showing his marketing website. He said he was doing this to show his initial effort as background as he would be talking about his second website, iTS COOLER PLUS. This website was conceived, developed and launched in Pattaya – one website, one page, bringing TV, Social Media, YouTube, News, Browser and more to users worldwide.

He referred to this website as being a “gatherer” site – a place to have one page that allows you to view all your social media here in one place. But, there is much more, you can tailor the content to receive feeds concurrently from your chosen social media, supplement your social media feeds with blog and video feeds based on your interests, and compose and post to one, all or some of your social media channels in one action. You can color code your feeds for easy identification as well as drag and drop your feeds to reorder them to suit you.

In addition, his platform will offer Expats the ability to watch international TV from around the world. Spencer said they currently have UKTV available. Further, in January 2019, he plans to have connections for US, French, German, and Filipino TV, with others to follow.

He mentioned that registering on his website will allow one month free viewing from these online international TV services including Digital Video Recording (DVR) so that favorite programs or events can be recorded and viewed later. These online services do cost money and the amount will depend on packages (bundled channels, etc.) and other features such as DVR. Although other sites offer these services free, it is usually for 7 days or less and then fees are charged. His platform will have several available in one place and offer 30 days free viewing.

He expects that iTS COOLER PLUS will become quite popular because it makes everything, social media, TV, newsfeeds, etc. available on one platform.

After Spencer’s presentation, MC Judith Edmonds brought everyone up to date on upcoming events and then turned it over to the Open Forum portion of the meeting where questions are asked and answered and comments made about Expat living in Thailand, Pattaya in particular.
