Chonburi, Father Ray raise 194,000 baht for Japan earthquake relief

The Chonburi Provincial Administrative Organization, Father Ray Foundation, Y.W.C.A. Bangkok Pattaya Center and local businesses raised nearly 194,000 baht to support earthquake victims in the recent “Care for Japan” project.

Sakhon Phonlookin, vice chairman of the provincial council, announced results of the month-long fundraising drive May 29 at the Redemptorist School for Persons with Disabilities. In all, 193,974 baht was raised.

The Father Ray Foundation organized the fundraiser to help victims of the southern Japan quakes, which have killed 40 people and resulted in more than 1,000 aftershocks, as the country has been generous in its support of the charity.

Funds were raised from non-profit organizations and private individuals. Kids from the foundation put on a show to help generate donations.

Money also was solicited from governmental organizations and the Thai-Japanese Association. Proceeds from t-shirt sales throughout May were given to the cause.
