For those who keeping HM the King ever in their hearts is not enough, Pattaya tattoo parlors are offering special designs honoring the late monarch to keep forever on the skin.
Young men and women flocked to tattoo studios across the city for the inking of their upper arms, back or chest. To show proper respect, the body art is restricted to the royal emblem, the Thai-script numeral 9 (for King Rama IX) or simple text.
Studios near the Pattaya Dragon area in South Pattaya, along Chalermprakiat Road and just off Second Road were the busiest. Each shop had up to five tattoo artists and all were completely packed.
The owner of Been Freedom Tattoo in Huay Yai said that since the passing of HM the King people have been demanding the royal emblem be painted on their bodies to show loyalty, condolences and mourn the monarch’s Oct. 13 death.
Many shops offered free tattoos from Oct. 14-16 and promised special discounts thereafter.
