German artist Susanne Hackenbracht told of her passion for public art in her home country during a meeting of the Rotary Club of Phoenix Pattaya.
Hackenbracht, a painter and sculptor who is the niece of past President Hubert Meier, was invited to give a multimedia presentation at the Holiday Inn Pattaya Jan. 31 on the “Art in the Reeds” project, which she helped bring to life in 1998.
Hackenbracht, 49, has worked as an artist for 20 years, mainly in the Konstanz Lake area, but her work – especially in the fields of blacksmithing and painting – are shown at around Europe. She has taken part in open art competitions and experimental projects.
Through the public-art project she helped launch 1998, the artist has managed to show many of her sculptures in public settings, such as in parks, banks and courthouses.
The Rotary Club’s next lecture will be in March.
