There is a strong Indian community in Pattaya which encompasses much more than Indian tailor shops! There are now more Indian restaurants than ever, with the newest being Indian Roots on the banks of the Mabprachan Reservoir in the location previously known as Mulligan’s.

This new restaurant is run by Bobby Grover, sister of Naini Grover (Ali Baba Indian restaurant), with their father P.S. Grover (who has been in the restaurant business since 1982) obviously delighted to be present at the opening night of the new venture. Grover senior stating that part of the success of his families’ restaurants was that all their Indian spices were hand made, not from a packet.

Bobby said one reason she wanted the venue was that it offered her children a place to play safely. The restaurant is situated on an enormous piece of ground, with some being used for car parking and another section for children’s entertainment.

On the opening night it was apparent that the effervescent Bobby has many friends in the expat community, including some of the other restaurateurs in the Mabprachan area. Everyone agreed that Indian Roots would have a very central part to play in the local area, with international dining making Mabprachan an ideal environment for gourmets and gourmands.

The restaurant is open seven days from 12 noon till 12 midnight.
