Jesters Care for Kids came to the aid of a Down Syndrome girl, donating 10,000 baht to her family so they can build a safe, private restroom at their dormitory.
Jesters Chairman Lewis Underwood presented the donation to Nongprue Deputy Mayor Enake Pathanangam at the sub-district’s office April 16. He will give the money to Preecha and Ontha Saengue to use for daughter Pemika.
Jesters Chairman Lewis Underwood presents a 10,000 baht donation to Nongprue Deputy Mayor Enake Pathanangam to be used to build a new bathroom for Pemika’s family.
Born with Down syndrome, the girl is cared for by Ontha, who suffered a shoulder injury after a 2013 motorbike accident. Father Preecha makes only the minimum wage of 300 baht a day.
The family had been living on Soi Chaiyapruek in a 50,000 baht home, but the landlord evicted them to tear the house down to build apartments. They then moved into a dormitory run by Preecha’s employer, but the facility has shared restrooms.
The family fears a mentally disabled girl using the public lavatory would be at risk of exploitation, and therefore appealed to charity to give them the funds to build a private toilet for the girl.
Anyone wanting to make donations to the family can do so at the Nongprue Social Society Department at 038-933-199.
