The PILC 30th anniversary birthday bash, held on Saturday 25th February at the Centara Grand Mirage Beach Resort was a magnificent triumph in more ways than one. This incredible event was designed and planned by Jayne Jouai backed up by Helle Rantsen and the rest of her amazing team.
Guests began to arrive at 7:30 and were greeted with pre-dinner drinks and canap้s served on the intimate lawn with a comfortable atmosphere. The upscale ambience of the delightful garden venue buzzed with the chatter and laughter of friends. Waiters mingled amongst the guests with trays of sparkling wine and canap้s. It definitely succeeded in its intentions of giving guests a wonderfully welcoming experience.
The smart, yet casual, green and silver theme was evident throughout the evening. Ladies wore various shades of green in a myriad of different fashion styles. The majority chose to wear a modern uncluttered look with touches of subtle elegance, while others wore a collection of bold, mysterious, and eye-catching pieces, and standout jewellery.
At 8pm guests were ushered into the ballroom to the sounds of soft, melodic background music. In this relaxed atmosphere they took their seats.
The venue didn’t disappoint in the glamour department, providing guests with an elaborately themed atmosphere; friendly professional waiting staff; a gourmet five course buffet dinner; stellar raffle prizes; a steady stream of sparkling and still wines and beer, and DJ entertainment.
Five PILC presidents attended the event. These included our current president, Helle Rantsen, and four former presidents (two of whom renewed their club memberships following an absence). In alphabetical order: Marloes De Saegher-Weel, Rosanne Diamente, Anja Schoof-Hertroys and Gillian Thom.
Helle opened proceedings by giving a short but poignant speech. She welcomed members and their guests; thanked Jayne for her fantastic organisational skills; PILC sponsors for their wonderful generosity; Centara management and team for their cooperative collaboration, and the PILC committee for invaluable behind the scenes encouragement and support. She then introduced the ‘door prizes’ and declared the buffet open.
The buffet was a sumptuous feast, a culinary delight. A range of delicious hot and cold dishes to tempt the taste buds. However, still more magnificent, mouth-watering treats lay in store as the pudding and desert area was unveiled. The chocolate fountain beckoned! It was a true thrill to the senses.
To conclude, from beginning to end the evening was a tremendous success. But all good things must come to an end. I think you will agree it was a 30th Birthday Party we will all remember for many years to come.
