Rich prize for little-known transgender pageant

Twenty transgender contestants competed to take home a half-million baht and become a property developer spokesperson at the Miss Sodsai Home pageant in Pattaya.

Kritsomnaporn Taitawong, 25, finished runner-up winning 400,000 baht in cash and prizes plus the Miss Sexy Body award for another 5,000 baht. Kwanlada “Rock” Rungrochampha, 19, won third place, also taking home 400,000 baht in cash and prizes.

Honorable mention went to Yuttakorn Leatpanomwon, who took home 205,000 baht.

The pageant, judged by winners of the much-better-known Miss Tiffany Universe pageant, was the latest catwalk showcase for transgenders to show they are capable members of society.

The winner also becomes the spokesmodel for Sodsai Home for the coming year.
