St. Patrick, the patron saint of the Emerald Isle, will be making his annual pilgrimage to Pattaya on the afternoon of Thursday the 17th of March.

On that day St. Patrick’s Day will be celebrated the world over, including here in Pattaya, and the  parade will leave Alcazar Theatre at 16.30 and make its way along Beach Road, and this year it promises to be bigger than ever.

There will be marching bands, decorated floats, singers, dancers and a cast of thousands, and they won’t all be Irish.

On the 17th of March, everyone is Irish.

Now in its sixth year, the Pattaya St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the most fun days on the social calendar, and while everyone will be having fun there is also a serious side to the event.

The parade each year raises much needed funds for the Father Ray Foundation. Pattaya’s largest charitable organization currently takes care of and educates eight hundred and fifty underprivileged children and students with disabilities, and many of them will be taking part in the Parade.

So make your way down to Beach Road on the afternoon of the 17th, and you can wear whatever you like, just as long as it’s green.

St. Patrick and his little helper.
