On June 30, Ambassador Glyn Davies, his wife Jacqueline, and embassy colleagues welcomed Thai and international friends to celebrate the 240th anniversary of the Independence of the United States of America, held at Plaza Athenee in Bangkok.
The event also celebrated the centennial of the U.S. National Parks, with the entire ballroom and external spaces turned into themed national parks, historic, and scenic locations in the U.S. for the guests to explore and take pictures.
In his speech, besides giving recognition to the long and outstanding relationship between the Kingdom of Thailand and the United States, Ambassador Davies highlighted the significance of the U.S. national parks system in American history and praised the thriving sister park relationship between Khao Yai National Park in Thailand and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in U.S.
Guests were able to try out different cuisine spreads from different parts of the States, while performances included singing groups from The Harvard Krokodiloes, Chulalongkorn University Concert Choir, and live band.
