Budapest, Hungary (AP) – Hungarian food inspectors say a company was selling packages marked as frozen goose liver that actually contained cheaper but similar looking duck liver. The National Food Chain Safety Office said over 2 tons of the suspicious product were ordered off the shelves to be kept in storage until the inspection is completed. A popular delicacy in Hungary, goose liver is traditionally linked to the Nov. 11 feast of St. Martin of Tours, who according to legend hid among geese to avoid being named bishop, but was given away by their squawking. Officials said those responsible for the deception would be fined heavily.
