The Pattaya Mail, voted the best English language newspaper in the region for the past 12 years, has agreed to sponsor the Pattaya Mail PC Classic Challenge, Race Day on Sunday, 5 February, 2012, as a high-light of the week-long Multihull Festival, extending from 3–10 February.
This represents a welcome return by the Mail and its associated media, the Pattaya Blatt, the Chiengmai Mail and PMTV, to sponsor the burgeoning marine-related activities along Pattaya’s Eastern Seaboard.
Since 1995 and through until 2007, the Mail has strongly supported yacht-racing, mainly held off the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, H.M. the King’s own club in South Pattaya. These magnificent spectacles, accentuating the beauty of Pattaya’s environs and promoting the city as a most desirable venue and tourist destination has also contributed much to the city’s less-advantaged people – especially children.
Each year, with proceeds generated – mostly through local sponsors – by the annual “Pattaya Mail PC Classic” yacht race, considerable disbursements were made, through the Rotary Club of Jomtien-Pattaya, to the needy children, the aged and other disadvantaged groups of our society.
Everyone wins in this scenario: the media coverage generated by the Mail group, reached a world-wide market, with Pattaya as the focal point. Now, after a short hiatus, we are back, doing our utmost to present Pattaya-Jomtien as a tourist, family-oriented venue.
The Race Day itself will feature two races, exhibiting these “flying machines” at their best. All are welcome to join the excitement at the Royal Varuna beach-front for the day and evening. Don’t miss the unique Happy Hour sunset at Varuna’s sea-side sala.
