The Backyard Golf Society

It was ideal weather once again on Friday Jan. 24 for the weekly Backyard Golf Society game at Emerald.  In contrast to the last few weeks there was very little wind at all and cool temperatures meant a very comfortable round.

The winner of the stableford competition again was Jimmy “2 Stone”.  All this hullaballoo we hear about the best ball on the circuit is just bull-dust.  Jimmy has shown once again that balls are not a big deal.

Near-pin this week went to that most accurate of golfers, “Diet Whiskey” Dan.  Chances are he got a favourable bounce off a few trees and a roving dog on the way to the green but it is not how, but how close.

The skins proved to be a big winner for Kit “the Pom”.  With the 4 groups out today (and “The Quiet Man” providing some invaluable (?) tips to the last group), the first 11 holes were draws so Kit’s par on the 12th was enough to win those 12 skins and the 1 rollover from the previous week.  The other skins were won by Jimmy “2 Stone” and “Diet Whiskey” Dan with 3 apiece.

We saw the return yet again of Linda’s Lovelace who is getting in a few extra rounds before the boss turns up.  The Biss also made a return from darkest Africa so we should have a good turn-out for the next month or so.
