79 Thai athletes to compete in 15 sports at ‘17th Summer Paralympic Games’ in Paris Aug 28-Sep 8

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand is sending 79 athletes to compete in 15 sports at the 17th Summer Paralympic Games, taking place in Paris from August 28 to September 8. The Paralympic Committee of Thailand announced that the athletes will participate in various events, including table tennis, wheelchair racing, badminton, boccia, track and field, and more.

Saysunee Jana, a wheelchair fencer, and Athiwat Paeng-nuea, a wheelchair racer, will lead the Thai national athletes in the Place de la Concorde in Paris opening ceremony today. The ceremony is expected to feature around 6,000 athletes and staff from 184 countries and territories.



Saysunee, a veteran athlete who has competed in six Paralympic Games, has previously won two gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. The 2024 Summer Paralympics will feature 549 events across various sports for individuals with disabilities, with the Thai team eyeing to make a strong showing in multiple disciplines.

Thai athletes will compete in a wide array of sports, including table tennis, wheelchair racing, badminton, boccia, track and field, shooting, and several others, with the team prepared to represent the nation on the global stage. (NNT)
