Athletes again will compete in the sky, on sea and in the hillsides as the Air Sea Land Games return for the eighth time to the Eastern Seaboard May 1-31.
Sponsored by the Royal Aeronautic Sports Association of Thailand, the games this year will utilize the athletic fields at various Pattaya schools as well as the usual venues at the Nongkor and Nongkham reservoirs in Sriracha and Chonburi.
The Air Sea Land Games were launched in 2010 under the patronage of HRH Princess Chulabhorn to promote sports and tourism as well as to keep youths away from drugs.
Among the 20 land-based sports offered will be off-road racing, motocross, horseback riding, polo and beach football. On the sea, windsurfing and sailing will be featured.
Other events include paramotoring, paragliding, ultralight flying, kite surfing, rowing, jet ski racing, takraw, futsal, petanque, shooting, rock climbing, off-road biking and radio-controlled aircraft shows.
