Tuesday, Oct. 25, The Emerald – Stableford
On Tuesday we went to the Emerald and found the course in quite good condition despite of the rain the night before. The weather for the day looked more or less hopeful.
Paddy Devereux felt how slippery the slopes of the ponds were when he slipped into the water up to his neck. The rest of us kept it dry until about 7 holes in and then the rain poured down. After taking shelter for a while we decided to stop after 9 holes.
Thursday, Oct. 27, Crystal Bay – Stableford
We went up to Crystal Bay on Thursday and played the C & B course which was in good condition, but wet. The forecast looked rainy again but we had only a small shower and otherwise it was an enjoyable round.
Jonathan Pratt (H/cap 11) and Willem Lasonder (23) played consistent today and kept each other in balance. The decision had to fall on the last hole; Willem had the strongest nerves and made his par to win with 36 points. Jonathan had to settle for second place a mere one point behind.
Only one near pin claimed today, by Stuart Banks.
