BANGKOK, Sept 23 – About 10,000 Thais, foreigners join Bangkok’s car-free day campaign, riding bicycles in the capital on Sunday.

Saman Lertwongrat, representative of the Transport Minister joined the state and private sector in a parade of 12,000 bicycles from the Royal Plaza on the car-free day. 

Thai Cycling for Health Association organised the event, aiming to alleviate global warming and encourage people to travel by mass transportation services, bicycles or on foot to help reduce the greenhouse gas emissions.

Both Thais and foreigners wore red, white and blue, the colors of the Thai flag, and started the route at Dusit Palace heading to Lumpini Park. The event is scheduled to end around 3 pm.
