The Backyard Golf Society
Last Friday’s game at Emerald on Dec. 27 turned out to be slower than normal because the starter perhaps decided to make a few extra shillings and slipped 3 extra groups in ahead of us. In the high season where bookings are essential and on a course where we play almost every Friday of the year, it was disappointing to see this happen. Needless to say there were a few raised voices when we return to the clubhouse after the game.
Anyway, the winner on the day was Adrian (a.k.a. Andy) or ‘Golden Trowel’s Boyfriend’, although his 38 point total was actually a low return following his 21 points on the front 9.

The near-pin prize went to Mike ‘Taxi’ who has had the hump with his other moniker of ‘Michelle’, so we will give her – sorry him – his old name this week. ‘Taxi’ won the skin on the first hole and that also gave him the 5-hole rollover from the previous week and he went on to win another 5 this week. ‘Golden Trowels’ Boyfriend’ won 5, and there were 3 each to ‘Passport Control’ and ‘Irish John’. Jimmy ‘2 Stine’ won the skin on the last hole.
A few ales were consumed down the road with both ‘Taxi’ and ‘Golden Trowel’s Boyfriend’ buying a round out of their winnings.
