Monday, April 7, Green Valley (white tees) – Stableford

T1st Kenny Aihara (4) 39pts

T1st Muffy Kerr (12) 39pts

T2nd Jimmy Dundon (17) 36pts

T2nd Peter Larsson (14) 36pts

T2nd Tom Breslin (24) 36pts

T2nd Ian Pickles (13) 36pts

By the time you read this, we will all be high and dry up in Khao Yai.  The only benefit to staying in Pattaya is it may possibly be the world’s biggest wet t-shirt contest, but golf becomes too much of a hassle this week.

Double winner Ken Aihara.Double winner Ken Aihara.

Funny things can happen sometimes when you don’t use the countback system, and at this day’s event there were a whole bunch of golfers jumbled up for second place.  Four guys ended up shooting their handicap, and then we had another tie for first as Muffy Kerr and Ken Aihara both shot 39’s.

The new hole numbering seems to be going fine and the condition of the course is holding up very well, as we see many other courses drying up quickly and establishing a summer hardpan.

Wednesday, April 9, Bangpra (white tees) – Stableford

T1st Kenny Aihara (4) 31pts

T1st Dave Parker (8) 31pts

T1st Scott Witt (11) 31pts

Bangpra was the venue for today’s comp, and it is one of the better golf courses here.  Today it was looking on the dry side and as we all like the extra roll, it comes at a price.  The fairways have now become quite hard, so many thin shots were typical today.

When you have some very good golfers come back with a mere 31 on the card, you know it was a rough day at the office.  Once again we had a tie, but great to see our pal Kenny Aihara back on the podium and back on his game.  Way to go Kenny!

Friday, April 11, Eastern Star – Stableford

1st Mike Cantrell (29) 41pts

2nd Phil Smedley (10) 36pts

3rd Brian Green (15) 36pts

The Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed Eastern Star was the track to finish out our week of amazing golf in Thailand.  The course continues to have maintenance issues and the recent sanding is not helping their cause.  Still, it is great value for money and we all had an enjoyable round.

Mike Cantrell got back in a few weeks ago and has not had much luck on the podium until today.  From out of nowhere, Mike pulled out a 41 on one of the more difficult golf courses in the area and beat the field by 5 full strokes for the win.  Great job Mike, it’s about time!
