The headline should read “Tommy Balch wins!” as our buddy Tom finally saw a return on his investment with a Caddy Smile near pin. It has been a long time since Tom gained from the collection plate and good to see his perseverance pay off.
Back to the Stableford comp, a crowded podium with 5 places up for grabs saw recently retired Nat Meesuk (yes, that’s our former manageress) make a comeback with a 37 point card for fifth. We had eight groups out, and on top of the heap, stalwart Peter LeNoury had a massive 43 for a decisive victory here today. Nice shootin’ Pete!
Tuesday, March 13, Khao Kheow (white tees) – Stableford

Front nine, hot and no wind. Back nine, overcast and breezy so a tough slog on the front ended up to be a beautiful day at Khao Kheow. The course was in great shape save for minor construction on a few of the tee boxes where they are putting in new stairs and seating for our benefit. A temporary inconvenience for a permanent improvement!
There were elephants trumpeting in the background on the B course where there is a camp near the Open Zoo. Not too many golf courses have that as a feature!
Jimmy, Nick and myself scraped together 32 points for a third place tie with Doc Beard besting us all with 37 on the card.
