PSC Golf from Colin’s Bar
Sunday, March 14, Silky Oak – Stableford
Coming to the end of the high season and the numbers are falling but also the Koreans have gone as well, so it’s nice and quiet on the course and the speed of play has also gone up. Just 10 players today so 2 x 3-balls and a 4-ball.
With the wind straight in your face, the 1st hole claimed a few more victims and the divers a few more golf balls; the only shining light was the Donkey who chipped in for a birdie, so he was off to a flyer. This was followed by some steady play to finish the front nine with 21 points closely followed by Asger Levine with 20 and Svend Hommel with 19.
Mike Alidi.
As the saying goes, it’s a game of two halves on the back the Donkey stumbled a bit after putting 3 balls in the water and another out of bounds. Svend also had his problems with just 14 points on the back nine, but Asger is now getting back to his old self and with 19 points on the inward half he stole the glory.
1st Asger Levine (13) 39pts
2nd Colin Davis (19) 38pts
3rd Svend Hommel (15) 33pts
Monday, March 15, Pattavia – Stableford
We had another small field today, which is normal after playing on Sunday, and also with the dreaded Route 331 to fight against. This scribe also had the day off with other more pressing matters to deal with.
So, with just 9 players it was a single flight and 3 places to shoot for. Way out in front was the man who spends hours at the driving range, Odd Holm-Hansen with 39 points. He was followed by Andre Fortis with another steady 35-pointer and Gordon Kerr with 33.
1st Odd Holm-Hansen (23) 39pts
2nd Andre Fortis (16) 35pts
3rd Gordon Kerr (16) 33pts
Wednesday, March 16, Burapha A & B – Stableford
A good group of 17 players today for Burapha but when we got to the course we misplaced 2 of our golfers and as your scribe was walking out of the clubhouse looking for them he missed the step and went for a flying lesson. Still, a few sticking plasters later and he was as good as new.
The weather, as usual, was fine and hot and the course was in perfect condition with the greens like lightning. We had two flights today with the split at 0-17 and 18 plus and with a ‘2’s comp also.
B Flight was dominated by the fast-improving New Satita, following her 2 shot cut, with another 38 point, just edging out Barry Oat’s with37.
At the top of A Flight, and fresh from a 19-pointer at Silky Oak on Sunday, was Paul West with a remarkable turnaround and 40 points. Two behind in second came Phil Davies who thought he had lost to his playing partner Paul Smith but then discovered that Paul had been cut to a 1 hcp so they were tied on 38, with Phil winning the count back.
There were four ‘2’s with only one by way of a putter, the other 3 were all chipped in. The sole putted one came from Nim while the chippers on form were Paul West, Walter Baechli and Barry Oats.
A Flight
1st Paul West (17) 40pts
2nd Phil Davies (14) 38pts
B Flight
1st New Satita (38) 38pts
2nd Barry Oat’s (23) 37pts
Friday, March 18, Pleasant Valley – Stableford
Mike Allidi’s hole in one on the 5th hole at Pleasant Valley made it the fourth hole in one this month for the sharp shooters at Colin’s Bar, following those from Colin Davis, Steve Bishop and Patrick Pousser.
