The 20th year of the eagerly awaited Pattaya Sports Club Charity Classic golf tournament was held on 29th March 2016 at the Pattana Golf Resort. This event takes weeks of planning and preparation and the Golf Chairman, Maurice Roberts, worked very hard to make this a successful event, which, judging by the comments of those playing, he succeeded in doing so.
The competition was a 2-person better-ball stableford event with prizes on every hole and also for the top 5 pairs. In addition, there was also a raffle with many prizes that included concessional green fees for 4 people at Khao Kheow Golf Course, 4 concessional green fees at Pattaya Country Club, complimentary green fees at Phoenix Gold Golf Course, complimentary green fees at Pattana Golf Course and the major prize of a Cambodia trip to the Angkor Hotel & Golf Resort with 2 night’s stay for 2 people plus 2 rounds of golf each, plus many more prizes.

The presentations were held at Tavern By The Sea at The Amari on the following evening where a tremendous buffet was provided.
Another great supporter of this event was Chris Balzli of Sinto Shirts who provided 150 shirts free of charge.

Maurice also gave a very big thanks to the PSC Staff who did most of the preparatory work for the tournament including Wow, Candy & Molly who, along with Gerd’s wife Patti, helped out by selling raffle tickets at Tavern By The Sea. Special acknowledgement went to Maurice’s Golf Committee, namely Peter Blackburn, Dick Warberg, Gerd Reidler, Andre Van Dyk and Marcus Earp who all assisted on the day
Third place – Thomas-Joerg Luescher & Hans-George Bufe.
Out on the golf course, Mike Allidi (2) & Patrice Bardy (14) won the day with a sparkling 43 points, but they needed the aid of a count back to edge Ken Price (12) & Don Smalley (14) into second spot. Thoms-Joerg Luescher (13) & Hans-George Bufe (17) came in third, one point back on 42, heading a six-way logjam on that score that saw Anders Pedersen (5) & Hans Collett (7) take fourth and Andre Coetzee & Sugar Ray Handford fifth. The unlucky teams to miss out on the count back were Maurice Copan & Jim Bryan, Christian Boysen & Satita Cheoychao, and Simon Philbrook & Bob Newell.

Individual hole prize winners were Warren Wood, Mike Allidi, Paul Hack (twice), Andre Coetzee (three times), Torben Lindgaard, Larissa Balzli, Jonathan Pratt, Bob Newell, Wolfram Krueger, Derek Brook, Simon Philbrook, Hans-George Bufe, Neil Skilton, Peter Le Noury, Jim Ferris, Brian Anderson & Ken Price.
Fifth place – Sugar Ray Handford & Andre Coetzee.
Following the presentation to the many winners it was time for the raffle with 41 prizes being available. Maurice then again thanked everyone and announced that around 800,000 baht was raised from this year’s tournament. Every baht will be donated to the benefit of those in need so a big thank you to all those that contributed.
