PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Monday, August 10, Mt. Shadow – Stableford

Warm weather and no hint of rain greeted two buses full of eager golfers at the Mountain Shadow course on Monday.  Playing from the white markers suited most of the players as the scoring was sizzling on greens that played a little slower than usual.

Ebrahim’s game was certainly hot as he rattled off 3 birdies in a row, but he could not keep pace with eventual winner ‘Gentleman’ John Anderson.  Second place (losing the count back) went to Mike Gosden, with Ebrahim coming third and Gordon Clegg filling the fourth podium position.

(L to R) Paul Jackson, John Anderson & Drew McGaw.

Thursday, August 13, Plutalang – 4-Ball Ambrose

Thirty-two golfers headed out to tackle the Navy course in a 4-ball Ambrose format to play to mark the anniversary of the passing of Tony Olcorn.  It would be remiss not to mention the fact that 9 had travelled from Queensland to take part in this event.  They were: Allan Upington, Wayne Johnson, Mike Seaton, Alan Evans, Jason Grainger, Aaron Shorten, David Marshall, Alf Bugden and Mike McKeknie.  A fantastic turn out by you guys and one hopes we will see you all again next year.

A mention also to Khan and John who, when being told we needed numbers, came to the rescue.

(L to R) Peter Grey, Ebrahim, John Anderson & Aaron Shorten.

After a minutes silence we went to battle, playing the North & West courses.  We were troubled by a little rain early in the day but it did not last too long and once it cleared we were in for a good day on a great course.  The fairways had run today and the greens played a little slow but generally true.  A great day was had by all who took part.

1st Ebrahim, John Anderson, Aaron Shorten & Peter Grey (10.5) 58.5

2nd Kev Waycott, Geri Crilly, Bernie McCart & Russell Calcutt (10.3) 58.7

3rd Allan Upingtom, Jerry Dobbs, Paul Jackson & Wayne Johnson (11.5) 58.7
