Wednesday, Oct. 5, Eastern Star – Stableford

After Monday’s nine hole washout at Green Valley it did not look promising on the way to Baan Chang today.  As we teed off on the first there were a few spots of rain and this lasted for about five holes and then the sky cleared and we were roasting for the rest of the round.

The cut today was 8-14 and with 34 points Colin Aspinall won division 2, with Glyn Evans in second place after beating Paul Hartley 18/14 on the back nine, both coming in with 33 points overall.

Mikael Andersson was the winner in division 1 with 33 points, while Pete Sumner took second after beating Brian Green on a 19/18 count back, both shooting 32 in total.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Alan Bissell, Brian Green, Wilf Latham and Jerry Sweetnam, (Div 2) Marty Aronson, Colin Aspinall and Tony Thorne.

Alan Bissell birdied the par 3 thirteenth for the only ‘2’ in division 1 while in division 2 there were four rollovers to the following week.

Friday, Oct. 7, Pattavia – Stableford

There was no problem with road works on the 331 today as we headed off to Pattavia and when we got to the course there was nobody in front of us on the first tee.  The layout was in a brilliant condition today and everybody was raving about it.

Bruce Gardner won division 1, edging Pete Sumner 17/15 on the back nine after they both came in with 32 points, and Paul Butler was third.

Welshman Curtiss Hessler was the winner in division 2 with 32 points, two up on Don Head in second and Marty Aronson was third a further point behind.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Pete Sumner (2) and (Div 2) Magne Gunnarson.

No ‘2’s in either division so rollovers once again.
