Jomtien Golf with the IPGC

Monday, June 1, The Emerald – Stableford

A smaller field than normal today, with the cut set at 8-17 in division 1, and the highest score coming in was 35 points from Pete Sumner to win the premier flight.  Terry Madsen was second one point behind and Iain Wash took third with 29.

There were two 31’s leading in division 2 and ‘count-back’ Burnie beat Dave Brown 8/7 on the back six after they both came in with 13 on the back nine.  Jeff Greer occupied third spot with his 28 points.

Alan Bissell birdied the 17th and Terry Madsen the 7th to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 while Iain Walsh sank a birdie putt on the 15th to take the rollover spoils in the second flight.

Wednesday, June 3, Crystal Bay – Stableford

The B course is still under renovation here so we were playing the C and A nines today and an unusual cut in the two divisions of 7-20 and 21+.

Gordon Everingham returned the highest score of the day, winning division 2 with 40 points while Louis Wong came in second with 38 and Jeff Greer took third someway back on 30.

Chris Voller was the winner in division 1 with 39 points and, in his last game before returning to the UK for a while, Pete Sumner lost out on second place to Wichai Tanannusorn via a 17/16 count back after both finished on 34 points.  Unlucky Peter and bon voyage!

Near pins went to (Div 1) Wichai Tanannusorn, and (Div 2) Tom Novak and Louis Wong.

Chris and Wichai both birdied A8 to share the top flight ‘2’s pot while there were none recorded in division 2.

Friday, June 5, Eastern Star – Stableford

Today we had the same equal divisional handicap cuts as Monday, and playing off 16, Colin Aspinall scored 22 points on the front nine and 20 on the back to top division 1 standings with 42 points.  Frank Kelly trailed in second with 35 and Chris Voller was third on 33.

Michael Healy was the winner in division 2 with an even par 36 points while Glyn Evans took second just one point behind and Darryl Blair beat Lars Svensson 18/14 on count back for third spot after they both shot 30 points each.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Paul Butler and Tim Hake, and (Div 2) Glyn Evans (2) and James Tognela.

There were no ‘2s recorded today in either division so a rollover to Friday, June 12 at the same venue.
