Travellers Rest Golf Group
The word to describe this past week just has to be “turmoil”, for wherever you looked there was upheaval going on everywhere, whether it is in Europe with the Greece situation or closer to home at the TRGG headquarters, where it would appear that the bar is being carved into two, with dividing walls being erected at a rate of knots before our very eyes. I guess only time will tell where all this turmoil will lead to so watch this space.
For those of you who have golf equipment in the lockers, all of these are being protected and your belongings will be found safe on your return. No one quite knows whether in future there will be a Ned Kelly 1 and a Ned Kelly 2 bar but I would have thought one Ned Kelly caused enough turmoil on his own.
Wednesday, July 8, Burapha – Stableford
As far as the golf was concerned it was another quiet week, with Monday’s trip to Bangpakong again being cancelled through lack of numbers.
Bill Conway (left) with Michael Patterson.
On Wednesday however things bucked up and we saw a good sized turnout head over to do battle at Burapha (A and B courses). A new name appeared at the top of the leaderboard with Aussie Bill Conway showing the others the way home. He did, however, require a count back before just getting the better of second placed Jim Cleaver. Tucked in right behind was our resident roadrunner Richard Talbot who finished in third place.
1st Bill Conway (26) 38pts
2nd Jim Cleaver (8) 38pts
3rd Richard Talbot (16) 37pts
Friday, July 10, Bangpra – Stableford
On Friday another good turnout set forth to take on the monkeys at Bangpra. Another new name from down under, Michael Patterson, certainly didn’t monkey around and finished top of the tree with 35 points. In second place came Lasse Petterson and in third Jim Groves managed to edge out two others on count back, all finishing on 31 points.
1st Michael Patterson (15) 35pts
2nd Lasse Petterson (24) 34pts
3rd Jim Groves (12) 31pts
Good luck to all you golfers for the coming week and if you would like to play a round of golf with the TRGG, please phone Derek Thorogood on 080 673 3118 or pop into the Ned Kelly Bar in Soi Lengkee and add your name to the weekly lists which are posted on the notice board.
