While the Badminton Association of Thailand has pledged unlimited financial support to its athletes, Prime Minister Srettha hinted at possible additional incentives.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has extended his support to Kunlavut Vitidsarn, Thailand’s top men’s singles badminton player, as he heads into the finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes to Kunlavut during a press briefing on Aug 5 following a water management meeting at the Royal Irrigation Department in Bangkok.

Kunlavut, who is scheduled to compete against Denmark’s world number two Viktor Axelsen at 8:40 p.m., has already achieved a major victory by defeating the world number one, Shi Yuqi.
While the Badminton Association of Thailand has pledged unlimited financial support to its athletes, Prime Minister Srettha hinted at possible additional incentives. He suggested that should Kunlavut clinch the gold medal, discussions might be held with private-sector entities to appropriately reward this historic achievement. (NNT)
