Wednesday, Feb. 28, Pattaya C.C. – Stableford

Horrendous storms led to Monday’s game at Bangpra being cancelled.  On Wednesday at Pattaya Country Club we had two divisions out with the equal cut set at 11-16 and 17+ and with 40 points Theo Bahrt recorded the highest score of the day to win division 2.  Alan Bissell, with a 19/16 back-nine count-back beat Fred O’Connor for second place after they both came in with 35 points and Peter Davies finished fourth, beating Ger Lodge 16/14 after two 34 ‘s were recorded.

Dennis Scougall topped division 1 with 38 points and then there were four 34-pointers fighting for the next four positions.  On count-back Paul Young came in second, Barney Sheedy was third, John Hughes fourth and Paul Butler had to settle for fifth.

Near pins went to (Div 1) Bob Comartin, Ted Lodge and Dennis Scougall (2), and (Div 2) Leo Adam, Ger Lodge (2) and Andres Van De Laan.

Neil Gamble birdied the 7th and Dennis Scougall the 12th to split the ‘2’s pot in division 1 and Allan Robartson on the par-four 15th chipped in for a ‘2’ in division 2.

Friday, March 2, Eastern Star – Stableford

Ten groups out today with the cut at 9-15, 16-19 and 20+ and amazingly there was only one score above 34 points in all three divisions.  It was a tough test of golf out there today with some very slick greens and wicked pin placements.

Playing off 16, Paul Butler won division 2 with 41 points while Frank Kelly was second on 34, Tony Thorne third with 31, Ger Lodge fourth on 30 and Per Forsberg fifth after beating Shane Tutton on count-back, both with 29 points overall.

Bob Comartin was the winner in division 1 with 34 points and then Pete Sumner beat Mikael Andersson and Dennis Scougall 20/18/15 after all scored 32 points and in fifth place Tim Hake beat Paul Young 16/15 after two scores of 29.

Another 34-pointer topped division 3 with John Kelly beating Max Wilson 16/15 on count-back.  Fred O’Connor was third on 30 and five 29’s came in, with Alan Bissell taking fourth, Finn Olsen fifth and Bert Jumelet, Andres Van De Laan and David Phillips all losing out.

Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Jerry McCarthy, Bert Mittendorf and Paul Young, and (Div 2) Colin Aspinall and Ger Lodge.

Dennis Scougall birdied the 6th in division 1 for the only ‘2’ of the day.
