Phoenix Members Golf Society
Having been away for a few days at Hua Hin for their golf festival I cannot report too much about events at Phoenix except to say that on the day of Tuesday 6th August David Lusha was the victor with 37 points, while three other players, Bob Neylon, John Bartley and Arthur Busch all scored 36 points to take second, third and fourth places respectively.
Near pins went to Joris Goetschalckx and Mukesh Thakkar with Joris also winning the free massage lucky draw prize and Jan Huly the free drink lucky draw prize, both donated by out host The Relax Bar at Ban Amphur. Bill Hewitt was the other lucky draw prize winner who duly passed it quickly on to Samorn (his caddy).

Today was also the presentation of the Blue Olive monthly voucher for the player of the month of July. John Bartley managed to just pip Arthur Busch on the final day of July to end up with a total of 79 points for the best two rounds of the month.
My trip to Hua Hin was my first trip there to play golf and I can say at this time of the year the whole area has a Festival of Golf. This means that even the best courses are more affordable and the Banyan course turned out to be one of the best courses all of us who went on the trip have ever experienced. By the fifth day though energy levels had dropped quite low and it was good to get back to work for a rest!

At Phoenix we are now back to starting the player of the month comp with a new rule that 3 scores from at least four submitted over the month of August will find the best player. Plus, of course, all the other competitions and sponsored vouchers still up for grabs.
Other news is that we are all waiting with baited breath for the announcement of the future at Phoenix from the new owners at the end of August. Hopefully not much will change and we can continue with the success we have enjoyed over the last 3 to 4 years.
We play every Friday and Tuesday at approximately 10.45 to 11.30 am each day. For more information regarding playing with our society and Sea Fishing trips please call me (Mike) on 087 091 7565.
