IPGC Golf from The Tara Court Golf Society
Sunday, Oct. 23, Green Valley – Stableford
A Flight
1st Richi Hurley (7) 37pts
2nd Shaun Tracy (13) 37pts
3rd Bob St Aubin (14) 35pts
4th Craig Robson (14) 37pts
B Flight
1st Paddy Naughton (17) 39pts
2nd Joe Peters (22) 33pts
3rd Brendan Bannerton (20) 33pts
Now that high season is near and the numbers are going up we decided today to run two flights for our regular game here at Green Valley.
In the A Flight, Richi Hurley played his usual steady golf and came out the winner with thirty seven points. Shaun Tracy had recently been cut two shots off his handicap but he also had thirty seven points today but lost out on the count back to his friend Richi. We then had two players on thirty five points with Bob St Aubin wining the count back to take third place and Craig Robson who has also been cut two shots off his handicap took the fourth and last place.
In the B Flight we had the best score of the day with Paddy Naughton, who is here for a short visit, winning it with thirty nine points. We then had a gap of six points with two players on thirty three where Joe Peters came out on top on the count back with twenty one points on the back-nine to take the second place while Brendan Bannerton had to settle for third.
Although we had a large group out today surprisingly we had not ‘2’s.
Tuesday, Oct. 25, Treasure Hill – Stableford
1st Craig Robson (14) 35pts
2nd Ted Morris (15) 34pts
3rd Gerry Hannan (11) 34pts
4th Joe Peters (22) 33pts
We were back here at Treasure Hill with our friends from the PFGS and once again the course won and none of our group managed to play to their handicaps.
The course itself was in perfect condition and it was a beautiful day for golf but the best any of us could manage was thirty five points. This was achieved by Craig Robson who was playing what was his last game for what was a very successful short visit this time. Craig has lost a couple of shots off his handicap and has still managed to stay in the prizes.
Ted Morris, who says he doesn’t like this course as he finds it very difficult, came second with thirty four points which will probably make him change his mind about it. Ted beat Gerry Hannan on a count back which went down to the last six holes. Joe Peters took the fourth and last place with thirty three points while Craig Hitchens scooped the ‘2’s pot.
Thursday, Oct. 27, Burapha – Stableford
1st Jon Batty (7) 38pts
2nd John Fenwick (20) 37pts
3rd Paddy Naughton (17) 35pts
Unfortunately this was to be our last day here at Burapha for this season as the Sport Days have come to an end and we cannot get a reasonable price for high season, but we will be back again next year as all our golfers find it a good challenge and always in very good condition.
For our last day we played the A and B nines off the white tees as the fairways were soft after all the rain over the previous few days. Actually, we found that despite all the rain they weren’t too wet and we got a few very good scores.
Jon Batty was the man of the match today and he won with thirty eight points, having an excellent twenty one points on the back-nine. John Fenwick also played very well and came second with thirty seven points. Paddy Naughton has had a very successful holiday this year and on his last day here for this trip was once again in the prizes in third.
Paddy also secured a share of the ‘2’s pot along with Frank McGowan and Bernard Bannerton.
