Travellers Rest Golf Group
The firework show continued this past week with an international contest between four countries down on Pattaya beach and there were some fantastic displays on show. Not to be outdone, there were also some fantastic displays from the golfers of the TRGG.
Monday, Nov. 25, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
It was Brian Beaupre who provided all the fireworks on Monday at Mountain Shadow and he put on a one man display which outshone all the rest, returning to the clubhouse with 39pts. Not bad at all from a five handicapper on a tough course.
Brian Beaupre.
A special mention must also go to Geoff Beckett who got his act together this week and finished top of Division 2 to give him some pleasant memories of his latest trip to Thailand. Geoff was returning home later in the week to sunny Shepperton in the south of England, although perhaps that should be dark and damp Shepperton at this time of year.
Div.1 (0-14)
1st Brian Beaupre (5) 39pts
2nd Jim McNeill (14) 36pts
3rd Roger Brocksopp (10) 34pts
Div.2 (15+)
1st Geoff Beckett (28) 36pts
2nd Tom Kett (20) 35pts
3rd Ken Brehm (18) 35pts
Tuesday, Nov. 26, Green Valley – Stableford
Tuesday it was back to Green Valley for our regular Tuesday outing and this time it was that man from down under, Daryl Ottaway, who lit up the sky, finishing miles ahead of the opposition on 41pts so it was obviously just a walk in the park for Daryl.
Another good performance came from that man about town Steve Carleton who must have got in an early night for once. He finished second on a very creditable 37pts.
1st Daryl Ottaway (8) 41pts
2nd Steve Carleton (8) 37pts
3rd Neil Bramley (10) 36pts
Thursday, Nov. 28, Bangpakong – Stableford
It was a welcome return to Bangpakong on Thursday, now fully recovered from looking like a battlefield back in June after all the rain. This is one of those courses that doesn’t beat you up; it is a friendly course where everybody can have a good day on a beautifully maintained piece of land. That is how it again worked out and a number of golfers returned their best scores for a long while, including yours truly. Only poor old Arthur Heck wished he had stayed in bed after a particularly bad day.
Geoff Beckett.
Special mentions must go to Neil Bramley and Tom Pett, the winners of the two divisions who were definitely glad that they didn’t stay in bed.
Div 1 (0-15)
1st Neil Bramley (10) 39pts
2nd Paul Stanton (13) 38pts
3rd Ed Brubaker (14) 37pts
Div 2 (16+)
1st Tom Kett (20) 40pts
2nd Andy Rich (21) 38pts
3rd Dorsey Richardson (17) 35pts
Saturday, Nov. 30, Eastern Star – Stableford
The TRGG finished up the week on Saturday with a trip to Eastern Star and the high scoring settled down and returned to normal.
A Thai lady, Rungratree Puangsal, topped the leader board, playing to her handicap and reduced all the men in the field to also-rans. Well done to her!
1st Rungratree Puangsal (16) 36pts
2nd Neil Bramley (9) 34pts
3rd Paul Stanton (12) 33pts
Good luck to all you golfers for the coming week!
