Golf for all at The Outback Golf Bar
Sunday, Sept. 13, Phoenix – Stableford
As we continue to bring the widest choices of playing options to our esteemed pundits, our weekend golf is picking up momentum on Sundays at Phoenix, and we are starting to see a growing interest from regulars and tourists alike. Special thanks goes to Greg Hirst from the DeVere Group who is organizing players from his customer base to help us promote our Pot and Skins weekly theme.
For the match on 13 Sept, a couple of us decided to play off the blue tees, and the course played long with some blue tee boxes as far as 60 yards behind the whites. Generally, the blues were right back, whilst the white tees were a mixture of normal and forward tees. Nonetheless, we braved it out, and a great birdie by Carl Sellick (playing blue tees) on the 18th hole helped him to win the majority of the skins money on offer.
Eddy Beilby.
The day’s pot winner and a few good skins went to newcomer Vic Hester (playing from white tees), who thoroughly enjoyed the event and we he will become a regular Sunday player.
If you would like to enroll for weekend golf with the Outback at Phoenix on a great weekend package rate, give Andre a call on the number listed at the end of this report.

Monday, Sept. 14, Burapha – Stableford
While Tim was out of action with a bad knee the reports from Sugar Ray and Brad were that C and D were in top condition. With the rainy season finally arriving, the weather was cool and overcast with a light breeze.
There were four groups out with the leader in the player of the year standings, Peter Nixon, winning with a good score of 39 point. Jimmy Little came in second two points back of Peter and Sugar Ray Handford was third with an even par 36. Jim Brackett meanwhile snatched fourth place on the podium after edging Brad Jordison on count back.
Sugar Ray had two ‘2’s and Maurice Copan one.
1st Peter Nixon (09) 39pts
2nd Jimmy Little (22) 37pts
3rd Sugar Ray Handford (19) 36pts
4th Jim Brackett (07) 35pts
5th Brad Jordison (06) 35pts
Wednesday, Sept. 16, Bangpra – Stableford
With all the rain experienced and expected, deciding to play golf in the wet and soggy conditions took some dedication, but with the prospect of playing a course like Bangpra that decision was made little easier. As it happened, there were not many complaints from the players, apart from the greens being a little slow for Bangpra conditions (go figure that!)
Scoring was on the low side due to the conditions, apart from Eddie Beilby, who held his turf in the wet conditions pretty well and finished with a great 36 points. Ianthira Phisetrit performed well also, beating Geoff Stimpson by a point to finish second, with Geoff completing the podium.
Understandably in today’s conditions, there were no ‘2’s recorded.
1st Eddy Beilby (20) 36pts
2nd Ianthira Phisetrit (19) 30pts
3rd Geoff Stimpson (09) 29pts
