How green is thy valley? Pretty darn nice as we found the course to be in perfect shape for our Monday golf outing.

Always a good thing to see our old mates back and especially when they mount that podium and get Birthday cards from Phil. Nicky, Jay and Nate all joined up with us this week and showed the locals how to play Green Valley. In the case of Jay Burns, not an easy task when you are playing off just a 2 handicap.
Matt Davies also got a card from the Captain, but a (mostly) local lad by the name of Kenny Aihara saw the sun shine his way as his 38 points took the top spot. It must be our famous “Sandbagger” breakfast that keeps him going!
Wednesday, Dec. 30, Parichat (white tees) – Stableford

The last round of 2015 took us to a little teaser of a course just 20 minutes down the road. This course is like Marmite, you either love it or you hate it! It is a unique golfing experience that’s for sure and the condition of the course just gets better and better. There are holes here you will not find anywhere else. Some would say that’s a good thing but what makes this place special are some of those one-of-a-kind shots you end up with here that makes it fun and challenging.

Fairways and greens were hard and a bit dry today. Generally we saw improvements on a course that is maturing very nicely for being just over a year old. The construction is still going full tilt on the new clubhouse and hotel and when they get that open it will be a huge asset.
The leaderboard today saw Scotsman Grant Alexander rack up 35 points on the card for a third place spot. It is time to say farewell to Simon Burrows and his 36 will keep the memory going as the Englishman heads back Canada way. First place went to returning regular Stevie Wentford out here on another trip from Australia to complete our very international podium.
Friday, Jan. 1, Silky Oaks (white tees) – Stableford
1st Fred Birch (23) 43pts
2nd Kris Kritsanajootha (7) 37pts
3rd Alan Rothwell (4) 36pts
After a one day break, the lads were off for the first round of 2016 and what better way to start it than Silky Oaks? This is becoming a very popular venue as the guys realize that it is now a regular 18-hole golf course and the value is hard to beat. All of the elevation changes here make for a very attractive layout as well. Sure, there are a couple of stupid long carries off the tee but not many courses will have you liking every hole.
Alan is back, and with just a 4 handicap he still managed 36 points for another great round of golf. Our old pal Kris K. is in town for a couple of weeks from San Diego where he is enrolled in the PGA golf instructors academy. That should finish in August and we wish him the best for the future with his new life in the world of golf!
Maybe Fred Birch should also think about turning pro? Fred’s 43 here today is the best scorecard we have seen in months! That’s a fantastic result Mr. Birch, the Senior Tour (I refuse to call it the Champions Tour) awaits. There’s nothing wrong with being a Senior!
