A special competition was held at The Retreat lawn bowls center on Wednesday Dec 6 to celebrate John Parkinson’s birthday. There were two teams of 10 players each with John captaining one team and Alan the other.
After 8 matches the result went 5-3 in favour of Alan’s team. But John still had a great day.
Two days later on Friday there was a triples competition with the final being contested by John Parkinson, Sandy and Aaron against Billy, Jim and Mel. After lots of good bowls by both teams, Billy’s team came out victorious.
Sunday saw the customary singles roll up tournament with 24 people competing for the title. After several matches five people were left in a play-off; namely Peter Barnes, Sandy, John Parkinson, Ian and Barry Jones, with Barry prevailing to take the day’s honours.
