Twenty-four golfers joined us today at Green Valley with some having more success than others. Don Bland fired a wonderful gross 72 off the stick for 41 points and the day’s top honor. Things got off to a great start making birdie, par, birdie and keeping the momentum through the round. Sweet swinging Sonny Crawford was second with a great 38 points.

Ozzie Steve and his mate Adam were playing there last round of their trip and managed to get into the frame. They wanted one last game before they headed to the airport. Imagine their red faces when arriving at the airport they discovered that they were supposed to have left the day before! At least you got that last round in hey fellas!
Keith Worboys was 5th today having been beaten by Adam on the back 9. Jimmy Dundon took the near pin honor.

Tuesday we took advantage of the sports day at Siam Old Course and it proved popular with 30 players signing up. It was interesting to see that 3 of the 5 winners in the frame are members at Siam. Some local knowledge surely came into play.
Jeff Calrow had every part of his game clicking resulting in a fine 41 points. Fellow member and playing partner Keith Worboys fed off of Jeff and turned in a 39 point card. Serge Strachen controlled the putter and came in with 38 points. He was closely followed by Micheal Mier who had two 2’s and the near pin, scoring 37 points. Paul McNally finished our frame of winners with a very respectable 36 points and a 2.
Wednesday, July 20, Phoenix – Stableford
1st Peter Hynard ( 13) 34pts
2nd Ian Grout (7) 34pts
We had a small turnout today for Phoenix, only 2 groups with some very average scores to say the least. Peter “the quiet one” Hynard beat out Ian Grout on the dreaded count-back by 17 to 14. The remainder of the field played some sub-standard golf on greens that were the same. Thanks to all that supported us this week.
