Round 5 of the Fisherman’s Friend BMX Thailand Championship 2013 took place at the Pattaya PRC Tower Boat Circuit on Sunday, June 2. Narong Klinsurhai won the title after beating out a fellow Thai national-team rider in the final race of the five-round competition.
Only four points separated Narong from Jakraphet Witchana going into the final adult mountain-bike race but the contest between the two was decided when Narong, after trailing Jakraphet from the start, made a dramatic hill jump to pass his rival before the finish line.

Begun in Saraburi Jan. 6, the Fisherman’s Friend competition attracted 300 male and female entrants in categories ranging from riders under eight years old to over 40. The competition’s second round also was held in Pattaya on March 10.
Adm. Weerakul Thongma, director-general of the Thai Cycling Association, and Nongprue Mayor Mai Chaiyanit opened the final round, with the men’s and women’s adult races taking top billing.

In the men’s race, Punyapol Sornkla placed third following Narong and Jakraphet. In the women’s adult mountain-bike category, Nisha Prasertsree of the Fisherman’s Friend team placed first, Duangkamol Thongmee from Red Line-Bangkok Sports School took second and Macrider’s Thassaporn Khaosuwan third.
In the much-watched girls age 13-14 event, Pornsawan Jaidee won the final race after Pornpipol Hothong fell in the fifth-round face-off, but Pornpipol still managed to hold onto her championship lead and take the overall title.
