Jim Brackett started out a fine week with the biggest prize of the month, the cut crystal vase emblematic of the monthly medal for August 2015.  Jim also won a fine bottle of Jameson’s Irish whiskey.  His net 71 was a stroke clear of A Flight mate Christian Boysen and a further one clear of Barry ‘the boot’ Copestake’.

The junior division found the going tough as Nick ‘Elvis’ Shaw took the top podium spot with a net 75.  William ‘the silver surfer’ Peach stood on the silver spot three shots adrift, leaving ‘Big’ Kevin Hamilton to tidy up the flight podium with a net 79.

Monday, August 10, Khao Kheow – Stableford

1st John Feehan (15) 33pts

2nd Brian Riley (16) 33pts

3rd Connie Walsh (11) 32pts

Another day out at Khao Kheow with the green fees at very attractive levels meant a fair turn out, although the heat and humidity still deterred many of the usual faces.

John Feehan and Brian riley were knotted on 33 points for the top spot in A Flight and the day’s man of the match honours.  When the knot was untied it was John who climbed the highest on the podium.  John and Brian were one stroke clear of Connie Walsh.

Wednesday, August 12, Plutaluang N & W – Stabelford

1st Brian Riley (16) 29pts

2nd Tougure (18) 28pts

3rd Terry Mangan (21) 26pts

Brian Riley, who only two days before was heralding his second place finish as his first trip to the pay station in as many efforts at Lewiinski’s, showed that it could become a habit as he bettered the field with 29 points on a very hot and humid day at Plutaluang on the tough North and West layouts.  Brian was one stroke clear of Tougure, as Terry ‘pork chop’ Mangan rounded out the top three.

Friday, August 14, Greenwood – Stableford

1st Kevin Rogers (12) 31pts

2nd Peter Henshaw (25) 30pts

3rd Ian Wilson (18) 29pts

The white tees on the tough C & A layouts and the soaring heat and humidity at Greenwood combined to keep the stableford scores very modest on Friday.  Aussie star Kevin Rogers was the man of the match with 31 points while Peter ‘no nick name’ Henshaw took second place on the podium a one shot adrift.  Ian Wilson filled the flight podium a further stroke back.
