The first Diana Open for 2012, held on January 26, saw twenty-five competitors playing in the 3 flights in the Super Senior, Seniors and Ladies at the local Pattaya Country Club.
All arrived well in advance of the tee time and registration and booking in was quick and efficient. The course was in fine condition however 7 of the front 9 holes were played from the back markers! The weather was hot and humid with a little rain after the last group had finished their round.

There were just 4 ladies today and it was Orn Kanajantia (15) who was in top spot with 34 points followed by Brigitta Luning (19) with 33.
As we know we are all getting older and becoming ‘Super Seniors’ as there were only 5 Seniors (50–64) today. Coming in with a fine 42 points was Kenny Chung (27) and a new face – Aussie Phil Waites (13) – was runner-up with 40.
There were 16 playing in the Super Seniors with wily Tom Breslin (25) recording a great 44 points. Runner-up was the regular Diana player – who also calculates the results – Alan Pearce (32) with 41 points. It was good to see Alan back on form after a few months in the doldrums.
There was no one to claim #5 near pin for men and no lady to claim #7. However it was Jerry McCarthy who claimed both 12 and 16 on the back 9.
Today we were joined by Norman Martin who had had some health problems recently. Whilst he is not able to play he went round in a buggy with Phil Waite and enjoyed the day,
