PSC Golf from The Billabong Golf Bar

Monday, Dec. 21, Phoenix – Stableford

With just three groups playing today it was an easy start and were finished in just on four hours.  The course was in great condition with the greens back to their normal speed apart from the 7th on the Mountain, which has some work being done on it but the fairways were in great condition, you couldn’t get a bad lie anywhere.

The scoring wasn’t spectacular but more than half the field beat their handicap, but the rest were just slightly ordinary with organizer being the worst of the lot.

Billabong ladies get into the festive spirit.

There was a three-way count back for third place between Gentry Harrington and Martin Ditchburn, both on 33 points but with Martin getting the nod.  Second place went to Howard Marson with 35 points but it could have been a lot better if some of the putts had dropped.  Top spot went to one of the members of Phoenix, Charlie Brown, with a fine 38 points.

There was only one ‘2’ but unfortunately there was no payout today, sorry Keith.

Wednesday, Dec. 23, Green Valley – Stableford

Just 2 days to go and those standing around the first tee witnessed something that is not often seen on a golf course – 9 beautiful Billabong ladies entering into the spirit of Christmas, all dressed up for this festive occasion in red shorts and green shirts and  all stood on the first tee for a colourful group photo.

Thirty-three golfers arrived at an almost empty Green Valley in near perfect conditions, no sun or rain and a gentle, cooling breeze set the stage for some great scores, which however was not to be.  Perhaps some started the holiday celebrations a little too early.

In the ladies, Miss Dan occupied the lower step of the podium with 31 points while the ever-present Miss Nu came second, but Miss Karn came out on top with a solid 35 points.

Sel Wegner needed a count back to take the fourth spot in the men’s flight, with Alan Beck placing third on 36.  A count back was needed to determine the day’s winner and that went to Barry Copeskate with 37 points, edging out Kevin Hamilton to take the spoils.

There were four ‘2’s today, coming from John Locke, Auke Engelkes, Miss Sa and the Captain Bob Philp.
