Monday, May 30, Bangpakong – Stableford

Five groups made the one hour journey to Bangpakong from Siam Cats and the equal cut today was 6-18 in division 1 and 19 + in division 2, plus the ladies comp as well.  The course was in good condition and there was nobody there apart from our group.

The best score of the day came in division 2 with count-back Burnie coming in with 42 points, eight ahead of Tom Novak in second and in third place Gordon Everingham beat Lee Casey on a 17/16 back nine count-back after they both finished with 30 points each.

In division 1 Ian Hart tied with Erik Reginiussen but remarkably won on a 23/22 count-back after they both scored 37 points while Kari Aarnio, now off 15, was third with 33 points.

Improving her game and trying to catch Mam Morel, Noi Emmerson won the ladies division with 36 points and with her big charity game next month on the 21st at Pattaya Country Club, she is trying hard.

There were no ‘2’s today in either division so a rollover ensued to Phoenix on Wednesday.

It was bon voyage to Roger de Jong back to Brussels and Grenville Hill to the land of Oz.

Wednesday, June 1, Phoenix – Stableford

Our first visit here for over six months due to the pricing structure and with the greens holitized four weeks ago, which we did not know about, there were a few discussions in the club house afterwards about when we will return.

Wichai took division 1 with 33 points with Tony Thorne second two points behind and back with the boys after six months, Nick Payne beat Kari Aarnio and Chris Voller on a 17/16/12 back nine count-back for third.

The organizer Glyn Evans, back in form now since the Hua Hin trip, won division 2 after beating the ‘old man’ on a 21/18 back nine count-back, sorry Ken Foster.  Russell Benson was in third place, beating count-back Burnie 18/12 after they both scored 30 points.
