Jomtien Golf with the IPGC
Monday, July 11, Plutaluang – Stableford
As we alternate the four nines here on each visit we were playing the East and South courses today and with two divisions out there were four players with a 16 handicap so the fairest cut was 7 to 16.1 in division 1 and 16.4 plus in division 2.
Recording the best score of the day was Paul Butler who won division 1 with 40 points. Jerry Sweetnam came in second nine points behind with 31 and Nik Evans was third on 29.
In division 2, with Miss Nut not playing any more Don Head took the win with an even par 36 points while Bob Poole came in second with 32. In his last game with us before he returned with his lovely lady Dawn back to the UK, John Hughes rolled in third with 30 points.
Near pins went to (Div 1) Colin Aspinall, Paul Butler and Nik Evans, and (Div 2) Don Head and Bob Poole.
There were no ‘2’s in either division today so a rollover to Pattaya Country Club next Monday.
There were many comments made after the round regarding the condition of the fairways here, with the majority saying they had never experienced them so finely cut before.
Friday, July 15, Eastern Star – Stableford
After another week of heavy rain in this area the Eastern Star course had improved even more and with a few newcomers playing today they were happily surprised.
With no Chris Voller playing due to an injured foot the cut was made at 9-14 and 16+ in the two divisions, and two 36’s were recorded in both divisions.
Bill Bertram topped division 1 standings ahead of Jerry Sweetnam in second on 35 and Mikael Andersson was third with 33.
Darryl Blair was the winner in division 2, with Paul Butler one point behind in second and Paul Hartley third with 34.
Near pins were claimed by (Div 1) Mikael Andersson, Paul Butler and Jerry Sweetnam (2), and (Div 2) Paul Hartley and Tont Thorne (2).
There were no ‘2’s in either division so a double rollover in division 1 and a single in division 2 to next Friday here.
