PSC Golf from The Outback Golf Bar
Monday, Nov. 2, Burapha A & B – Stableford
1st John Morrison (36) 40pts
2nd Andy Butterworth (10) 39pts
3rd Ed Turner (21) 33pts
4th Bernie Stafford (15) 33pts
We were joined this week by Michael Cordona and the group he brings along from work every year on a short visit. Also joining us was Nev Jolley and Murray Sheppard, a couple of awesome fellas trying to get back into the swing of things.
(From left) John Stafford, Bob Mattes, Sunanta Cotterell, Andy Makara and Tom Byrne.
There was a big gap this week between the field and the players at the top, with Ed Turner and Bernie Stafford coming in third and fourth spots with 33 points each. There was then a big gap of 6 shots to returning friend Andy Butterworth who scored a great 39 points, but the top podium position went to Michael Cordona’s crew, with John Morrison walking away with the honors after returning 40 points from his maximum allowed handicap of 36.
In another strange twist to the day, there were no ‘2’s recorded, which is unusual for a reasonable sized field of 20 players.
Friday, Nov. 6, Green Valley – Stableford
Div. 1 (0-17)
1st Tom Byrne (16) 38pts
2nd Sunanta Cotterell (15) 37pts
3rd John Stafford (16) 37pts
Div. 2: (18+)
1st Bob Mattes (18) 39pts
2nd Andy Makara (28) 38pts
3rd Bruce McAdam (25) 35pts
With the rain staying away for a few days, Green Valley did look a little bit drier than in the last few weeks and clearly the work that they have been doing on the greens recently is starting to pay off. The greens ran a fair bit faster than in previous weeks, looked a lot better and the rest of the course has also visibly improved.
The scores were generally good today, with many more players near their handicaps compared to previous weeks.
In division 2, B2 (Bruce Mcadam) came in third with a solid 35 points, Andy Makara scored 38 points for second, but first place went to Bob Mattes with a great score of 39.
In Div 1, John Stafford and Ing (Sunanta Cotterell) both came in with 37 points each, Ing taking second place and nudging John down to third courtesy of a count back. Occupying the top spot was Tom Byrne with a fine 38 points.
Kevin Hamilton and Bob Lindborg each scored a ‘2’ on a day where you would expect more due to the improved green conditions.
