Bank holiday Monday attracted 25 golfers from the TRGG to take on Pattavia. In division 2 Andrew Rich produced a really good round of 34 points to take 3rd place. Colin Smith is in a rich vein of form that has seen his handicap tumbling recently from 20 to 15, and another good round of 37 points secured 2nd place. However, this was not good enough to challenge the day’s winner John Baxter. His score of 38 points was pretty remarkable on such a difficult course.
In division 1 Seil Peter scored 33 points to take third place, cruising into 2nd with 34 points came Mike Rushant who simply cannot afford not to play at the TRGG, but winning the day on count back was Terry Smith with his 34 points.
Tuesday, Dec. 12, Pattana – Stableford
1st Shigeki Toyoshima (20) 40pts
2nd Seil Peter (8) 40pts
3rd Tristan Gilbert (12) 35pts
Tuesday saw the group makes its way up to Pattana. Tristan Gilbert shot a fine score of 35 points to claim the third position, Seil Peter continued his recent successes with 40 points in a round of 4 over par, but this was not quite good enough to take the day’s top prize. By virtue of a stronger back 9 the gold star went to Shigeki Toyoshima.
Wednesday, Dec. 13, Greenwood – Stableford

2nd Tristan Gilbert (12) 37pts
3rd Paul Colfar (5) 37pts
Division 2
1st Reg Glass (17) 39pts
2nd Eddie Townsend (21) 39pts
3rd Ken Brehm (22) 36pts
The most under rated golf course in Pattaya, Greenwood was the destination on Wednesday with 27 golfers making the long journey.
In division 2 Ken Brehm shot his handicap to take 3rd place. The division’s race for the top spot came down to a battle between two of the “gnarled veterans” of the society and Eddie Townsend’s 39 points were not quite good enough to take away the top prize from Reg Glass.
In division 1 Paul Colfar shot a fine 4 over par round to take 3rd place while Tristan Gilbert, for the second day in succession, made the podium with 37 points also and his strong back 9 resulted in second place. Good scores were littered among the field but no one could surpass the 40 points achieved by Seil Peter. His recent form has seen his handicap tumbling from 10 to 6 and it doesn’t look like stopping there.
Thursday, Dec. 14, Plutaluang – Stableford
1st Steve Carleton (8) 38pts
2nd Jim Cooper (17) 36pts
3rd Ally Walker (13) 37pts
Plutaluang was the destination for Thursday’s golf and Ally Walker’s 37 points were good enough to claim the third prize. Just beating Ally into second was Jim Cooper whose 38 represented a welcome return to form for the Scotsman. The winner of the day came in the shape of Steve Carleton whose 6 over par raw score was good enough to take the day’s top prize.
Friday, Dec. 15, Burapha – Stableford
1st Colin Smith (16) 36pts
2nd Terry Smith (12) 35pts
3rd Jim Cooper (17) 35pts
Burapha A and B courses welcomed the TRGG and the form shown by Jim Cooper the day before was maintained as he scored 35 points to take third place. Terry Smith also shot 35 but his stronger back 9 resulted in him taking 2nd place.
The day’s top score came from Colin Smith with 36 points. Three wins in his last 5 outings and the man from Australia is in red hot form
Saturday, Dec. 16, Mt. Shadow – Stableford
1st Steve Carleton (8) 28pts
2nd Billy Allan (20) 28pts
3rd Ito Akitoshi (11) 27pts
On Saturday the group travelled to Mountain Shadow for afternoon golf. In possibly the worse competition of the 2017 season no player managed to score anywhere near their handicap.
Ito Akitoshi must have been delighted that his 27 points was good enough for 3rd place and Billy Allan scored one better and this was enough for second position. A massive 28 points was scored by Steve Carlton as the golf course certainly got the better of the golfers on this day.
