T3rd Phil Smedley (10) 36pts

The battlefield of Green Valley was the site of today’s turf war and the troops were dispatched right at our 09:27 attack time.  We had a pretty good turnout today as well as some pretty good scores.

A three-way tie for third saw Brian, Kev and Phil all at 36 to equal their handicaps.  All respectable scores, but a long way off the leader.  Smilin’ Jack Grindvold seemed to have it in the bag with a big red 40 circled on the top of his scorecard.  Indeed, 95% of the time that would surely be the winning score, no problem.  Today was different, today was the turn for a high handicapper to take the prize and Andy Makara, shooting a 42, did just that.  Andy usually plays with us out here every Monday and it was good to see his course experience pay off.

Wednesday, Nov. 4, Greenwood (white tees) – Stableford

1st Brian Carr (28) 41pts

2nd Howard Cross (23) 39pts

T3rd Fred Dawson (7) 37pts

T3rd Dave Ferris (21) 37pts

5th Alan Rothwell (8) 36pts

Here we go again, back up highway 331 to one of our favourite courses, Greenwood.  Yes, it is a long haul to get here but it sure is worth it.  When I say it is worth it, it is not just for the value but the course was in great condition and as we all know, the layout is hard to beat.

A good turnout for today’s event saw Capt. Phil passing out Christmas cards to the top 5 blokes on the start sheet.  And top blokes they were, turning in some great scores that were all at their handicap or better.

Alan Rothwell, the Mayor of New York, is back in town and wasted no time in getting back on a crowded podium with 36 points.  Dave Ferris and Fred Dawson did him one better with a tie for third place at 37 points on their cards.

Watch out for the high handicappers!  Howard Cross off 23 shot lights out and carded a 39, but our buddy Brian Carr had one of his best ever rounds.  Timing is everything Howard, most days would have seen you the winner, but with a 41 it was Brian Carr who drove down victory lane and stuck it to ‘em like they were Ole Miss.  Go you Hogs!  They got BA but we got BC!
